When Someone Asks ChatGPT for a Lawyer, Be the Answer.

A growing share of potential clients no longer scroll through Google results, they ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Perplexity to just recommend a lawyer, and they call whoever the machine names. That recommendation isn’t random. AI assistants synthesize what the web consistently and verifiably says about your firm: your entity data, your reviews, your results, your content, your presence in trusted lists.

Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) is the discipline of building those signals on purpose. BSPE was one of the first legal marketing agencies to productize it, we run it for our own clients, we track it monthly with real prompt panels, and several of those clients are already recommended by name. Your in-depth analysis shows you, with screenshots, whether you are too.

As Seen On

How AI Tools Decide Which Lawyers to Recommend

AI doesn’t rank firms the way Google does. It recommends the firm it understands most clearly and trusts most confidently. Five things drive that, and they are the backbone of how we build your GEO.

Want to know what AI says about your firm right now? A 30-minute call includes screenshots.

Reducing Ambiguity

AI only recommends a firm when it is certain who you are, what you do, and where you operate. When it finds conflicting information, your address one way on Google and another on Avvo, a practice area listed here but not there, it doesn’t stop to work out which version is right. It moves on to a competitor whose information is clean. The fix is sameness: the exact same facts about your firm everywhere it looks.

Trust Signals (E-E-A-T)

AI needs proof you’re legitimate before it names you: real reviews, mentions in news and legal publications, your bar profile, a clear account of your experience and the cases you handle. Each one is a vote of confidence, and AI won’t recommend you on one or two votes. It wants to see many consistent signals all saying the same thing.

Entities (the most important one)

This is the single most important concept in GEO. Entities are the concrete nouns AI uses to understand the world: your firm name, your attorneys, your practice areas and their specific variants (car accidents, T-bone collisions, drunk-driving accidents), your city, county, and the courts and bar associations you’re tied to. AI learns by connecting these. Vague copy starves it; explicit entities feed it. “Our firm handles many injury cases” tells AI almost nothing. “Smith Law Firm is a personal injury firm in Phoenix, Arizona; attorney John Smith handles car accidents, including T-bone collisions and drunk-driving accidents” tells it exactly what to recommend you for.

Structured Content

AI can read anything, but it strongly prefers content it can parse cheaply: short paragraphs, lists, tables, FAQs, clear headers, plain definitions. Walls of text and academic throat-clearing get skipped. We write your key pages the way AI reads, which is also the way an anxious client reads.

Schema Markup

Schema is code your visitors never see but AI reads first, a hidden, structured summary of your firm’s facts sitting above the visible text. Because structured code is far cheaper for AI to process than paragraphs of prose, a clean schema lets it instantly extract who you are, what you practice, and where. It’s the machine-readable layer most firm sites don’t have.

What the BSPE GEO Program Includes

GEO isn’t separate from SEO, it’s SEO with receipts. Everything below also strengthens your Google rankings, which is why we build them together rather than selling you two strategies.

Entity Architecture

We build out your entities, the concrete nouns AI connects to understand you, and state them explicitly across your site: your firm and attorneys, every practice area and its specific variants, your city, county, courts, bar memberships, and credentials. The more completely AI sees these connected, the more confidently it recommends you. This is the heart of the work.

One Set of Facts, Everywhere

We make your name, address, phone, and practice areas identical across your site, Google Business Profile, legal directories, and social profiles. Research suggests AI needs to see your facts agree across roughly ten to fifteen trusted sources before it treats them as established, so we close the contradictions that quietly send AI to a competitor.

Trust Signals and Proof

A steady pipeline of specific, named reviews, plus the bar profiles, directory listings, and press mentions that serve as independent verification. AI won’t name you on one or two signals; we build the many it wants to see.

Schema and Structured Content

Attorney, LegalService, FAQ, and review schema, hand-coded, the hidden layer AI reads first. Paired with key pages rewritten the way AI parses best: short paragraphs, lists, FAQs phrased the way clients actually prompt (“who is the best DUI lawyer near me”, “how much does a divorce lawyer cost in [city]”).

AI Crawler Access

We verify GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and Google’s AI crawlers can actually read your site, many firms unknowingly block them at the CDN or serve them empty JavaScript shells, and we publish an llms.txt index of what matters.

Monthly AI Visibility Tracking

A panel of real prompts for your practice area and market, run monthly across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, and Copilot. You see mention rate, citation rate, and position, next to your rankings, in the same report.

Clients Currently Recommended by AI

When someone asks an AI assistant for a lawyer, these BSPE clients come up by name. Screenshots dated and archived, this is the same evidence your analysis will show for your market.

Your competitors’ names may already be in these answers. Find out where you stand.

A lot of attorneys already did

"He found our firm using AI, specifically a ChatGPT search, which I didn't even know was a thing."

We felt like we were just in a never- ending rat race. Ever since working with BSPE, we’ve just seen significant increases in activity, clients reaching out to us. And if I could just give one specific example, we had a client last week that actually said he found our firm using AI, specifically a chat GPT search, which I didn’t even know was a thing, but apparently you have been telling us all along that the way consumers are searching for lawyers now, it’s no longer just Google Search.

Honest Questions, Honest Answers

Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my firm?

No, and nobody honestly can, any more than anyone can “guarantee” a #1 Google ranking. What we can do: build the exact signals these engines verifiably rely on, show you the before and after on a monthly prompt panel, and point to clients who are recommended today. We sell the inputs and measure the outputs, in writing.

Generative Engine Optimization: making your firm the answer AI assistants give, the way SEO makes you the result Google shows.

No, it’s built on top of it. The same clean structure, proof, and authority that ranks you on Google is what AI engines cite. GEO adds the machine-readable layer, the prompt-aligned content, and the measurement. One program, two surfaces.

Entity and citation fixes can surface in AI answers within weeks because assistants re-check live sources; durable, repeated recommendations typically build over 3 to 6 months alongside your SEO. The monthly panel makes the progress visible instead of mystical.

GEO is included in most BSPE engagements rather than sold as a separate line item, so there is rarely a second invoice for it. What you pay all-in depends on your market, and you get the exact number once we understand it.
